FreeBSD Ports

Update

• Focus is now just on new FreeBSD ports in general. Port files, will be made available based on the standard FreeBSD ports structure.

These are development ports, so testers are encouraged to give feedback on any problems encountered.

Developers willing to add more ports for FreeBSD are also encouraged.Any patches submitted (and committed) will as usual be credited in the FreeBSD PRs.

You can learn how to create your own ports by looking at the Porters Handbook.

Testing ports

• To install
  1. untar in any directory
  2. change to port directory
  3. make install
• To deinstall
  1. change to port directory
  2. make deinstall

Those familiar with the ported applications, should try them out, to check if it is working properly.

Testing focus

• Port installs properly
• Dependencies are correct
• Port deinstalls properly (pkg-plist is correct)
• Ports work properly
